Solely focused on art created from 1960 to the present day, the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville uses its permanent pieces as the backdrop to a variety of temporary and traveling exhibitions. Its own holdings include pieces by modern artists like Ed Paschke, Joan Mitchell and Alex Katz, and the museum's ArtExplorium Loft lets families explore hands-on some of the various techniques employed by these artists and others. The downtown museum is close to many art galleries and restaurants, affording an excellent stop during a day of city exploration.
